EndyMed Pro Radiofrequency Microneedling

The EndyMed RF-microneedling is the first FDA cleared, non-insulated motorized microneedle RF technology in the market. The Intensif's non-insulated gold needles, together with EndyMed proprietary Fractional Pulse Model technology, generates more heat safely into the dermis for better collagen and reticular fiber production and remodeling. This, then, leads to better skin tightening and overall rejuvenation. The mechanism involves a stimulation of neocollageneis via needle penetration, emitting the RF energy into the deep dermis and the release of growth factors. Unlike many other rejuvenating procedures, the improvement is permanent. The EndyMed pro comes with four different sizes and shape of handpieces plus the Intensif for RF microneedling can be used safely around the eyes and face for wrinkles, scars, and spots. It is also an excellent procedure for skin laxity of the neck.

Safety & Botox

With Botox injections becoming a popular choice in the battle against aging, lets talk about safety. How safe is Botox?

  • Botox has been used in the USA for cosmetic purposes for decased now.
  • It was approved by the FDA for the temporary improvement of wrinkles and lines over the Glabellar area (for frown lines) and around the eyes (for crow's feet and/or smile lines).
  • Studies comparing Botox injections to a placebo demonstrate that only about 1% of the injections had unwanted side effects, all of which were temporary, showing that Botox is very safe.
  • Botox has also been approved for several medical conditions such as migraine headaches, muscular spasms, and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating of the armpits).
  • The two most common brands used in the US are Botox (from Allergan) and Xeomin (from Merz).

Fillers

 Why Fillers?

  • As time passes, facial fats and fibers (collagen, reticulin, etc.) loss gradually occurs. This is because gravity is constantly exerting a pulling pressure on our body, causing fat movement and pulling down fibers with time.
  • Fibers, specifically collagen (which helps hold fats in place), lose its concentration and elasticity, loosening the skin and creating a "saggy" appearance.
  • Sun rays, specifically UVB, cause cell/skin damage and skin aging.
  • Alongside all of the above, simple genetics can be responsible for facial wrinkles, hollows, folds, skin sagging, etc.

 What are Fillers?

  • Most fillers are made of hyaloronic acid (HA), a carbohydrate similar to starch. It is a major natural component of our skin, connective tissues, joint cartilages, joint fluids, and more.
  • HA has been similarly been incorporated into make skin care products. Beyond cosmetic reasons, HA has been used for medical reasons such as to assist in arthritis of the knees and shoulders, wound repair, etc.
  • Different manufactureres use different bioengineering techniques (such as cross-linking) in attempts to make the HA-fillers last longer provide the most desirable shape when injected. Some of the FDA approved fillers include: Juvederm Voluma Xc, Juvederm Xc, Vollure Xc, VolbellaXc, and Belotero (Note: the Xc stands for Xylocane, which provides a numbing sensation during the injection).
  • There are also fillers which act differently than HA-type fillers used for rejuvenation. These include: Sculptra, Radiesse, etc.
  • Juvederm Voluma lasts up to two years for cheek augmentation, which needs to be injected into deeper layers of skin.

 Results of Fillers

  • The Juvaderm Voluma Xc needs to be injected into the deep layers of the skin, and it lasts up to two years for cheek augmentations.
  • Results are visible immediately after the injection. However, because HA absorbs water gradually, it can take several weeks to see complete results.
